They joined a kick off event hosted by the BIPoC Mountain Collective, a Colorado-based organization that seeks to diversify the Great Outdoors in Colorado and globally, especially winter sports.

Ski season is in full swing here in Colorado. It typically runs from early October to late April, but the exact dates vary by weather and resort. The buzz is that the best time to ski in the Centennial State is between February and March, but Colorado Matters host Chandra Thomas Whitfield has been in this state for more than a decade and has never skied! Clutch the pearls, right? As a native Southerner, it’s just not something she grew up doing.

So recently she decided to change that and attempted to up her "Colorado street cred." Well, sort of. She and her family visited Sno Bahn, a winter sports training facility in Thornton during a special event hosted by the BIPoC Mountain Collective. The Colorado-based organization seeks to draw more people of color to enjoy the great outdoors here in Colorado and beyond, especially winter sports. It was an adventure, from the moment they stepped inside. You may learn more about the organization at https://bmcsnow.org/.
