Naturalist John Muir is known for his very tangible accomplishments.
Muir led the crusade in the late 1800s to preserve stretches of natural land, including what would become Yosemite Natural Park, and he founded the Sierra Club.
But it was Muir's spiritual side that Boulder filmmaker Michael Conti set out to explore in a new documentary. Conti traveled to various national parks and other stretches of wilderness for "The Unruly Mystic: John Muir," which screens at the Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins on Thursday, Jan. 24.
Conti talked to Colorado Matters about Muir's dual connection to nature and spiritualism.
