

R. Alan Brooks. He says he wanted to write about the issue, but from an unexpected perspective -- he put a science fiction lens on it.
Brooks collaborated with Denver illustrator Dion Harris and Longmont designer Matt Strackbein for a new sci-fi graphic novel series called "The Burning Metronome." It will have six issues and the creators describe it as a "murder mystery graphic novel with supernatural undertones." The first issue focuses on police shootings and race relations. In the spring, they plan to release a book with all six issues.
