There’s a new musical act coming to some long-distance passenger trains in the U.S. Her name is Gigi Love.
The National Park Service and Amtrak have teamed up to name Love a “Trails and Rails Troubadour.” Love, a former Coloradan, will perform on trains that go to national parks. She’ll play two or three times a day and figures she’ll have an unusually attentive audience, because it's hard to get good internet service on trains.
Love won’t be paid but she says the reward will come in visiting the parks and in sharing her love of the outdoors with people she meets along the way. She’s been a guitarist and singer since childhood. She started writing songs, including 11 about national parks, when she was in her late 20s. She also played at the closing ceremony for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. She spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
