Riders in the elite Pro Cycling Challenge will travel 524 miles through mountains and towns across Colorado over seven days in August, organizers announced recently.
One place they will not go is Northern Colorado. After successfully hosting a stage in 2013, the region decided not to bid this year because of the extensive damage caused by September’s flooding.
Bob Herrfeldt helped bring the race to the region last year. He's director of The Ranch, an events complex in Larimer County. Herrfeldt says it was a difficult decision not to bid, and recent announcements about where the race will go have been tough to hear.
