The film “Don’t Look Up” is a scathing satire about people’s response to climate change that uses a comet, hurtling toward Earth, as a metaphor for climate change. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence play the astronomers who discovered it, Meryl Streep is the U.S. president, and her son, Jonah Hill, is chief of staff. The writers of “Don’t Look Up,” including Denver journalist David Sirota, were nominated for an Academy Award Tuesday for best original screenplay. CPR’s Ryan Warner spoke with Sirota in December.
